Star Kiss

That very first glimpse of the sun rising on a Winter morning in Iceland. The fireball that started the whole thing off is now watched from a distance on the boundary between solid and liquid H2O with temporary structures that resemble diamonds. Sea Serpent 2

The next in the sea serpent series. Before this little serpent got away for good, I snagged him on the edge of my frame. Such a delight to get so much colour throughout the frame and the long exposure Magic Cloth ensures I get the best colours. November 2015 Internet use: Yes. Open Edition 60cm x 40cm Signed Open edition $120...

Sea Serpent

The Wimsey sea serpent winds her way out towards the rising sun. Need for lines drove a happy coincidence with the shape of this sea sculpted ice beauty. Driven out to sea for ever by my Magic Cloth. November 2015 Internet use: Yes. Open Edition 60cm x 40cm Signed open edition $120...

Mind the gap

This was an early morning at the ice beach, Jökulsarlon, Iceland in February. The beach was littered with glacier ice and access to the sea was difficult. One of the challenges with so much ice is finding the gap. With the right timing, I managed to capture the retreating ocean waves as they reveal the black sand in the gap between the ice and the ice. Magic cloth technique. Internet use yes. Open edition. 60cm x 40cm Signed Open edition $110...

Eruption

This was the closest I got to the eruption at Eyjafjallajökull in the May of 2010. The ash was coming out at a tremendous rate and blowing towards Europe. This was a relatively small eruption, but the impact was huge. Here we were in a safe position as long as the wind didn’t change direction. Although the bridge would ave taken me closer, I found it more useful as a leading line. Internet use: Yes. Open edition 60cm x 50cm Signed open edition $210...

Greensleeves

This was on one of my Winter workshops. We had some great aurora and the lagoon was packed with ice. This made it difficult to compose and include a good reflection. I managed to achieve this by including the bank. The Magic Cloth allowed me to capture the aurora beautifully and then give extra exposure to the ice and lagoon. Magic cloth technique. Internet use yes. Open edition. 60cm x 40cm Signed Open edition $200...

Feathers

The light was just hitting the peaks of Vestrahorn when we arrived. The layer of red rock, then snow then the golden peak reminded me of the pattern on a feather, so I looked for some foreground interest to match. Magic cloth technique. Internet use: Yes. Open Edition 60cm x 40cm Signed open edition $110...

Curly tops

This was one of my favourite skies from all my visits to the ice beach near Jökulsarlon, South East Iceland. I didn’t waste a single moment to go round and capture a whole series of images including the ice. Naturally, I was looking for ice forms which resembled the curly sky. Open edition. 60cm x 40cm Signed Limited edition...

Rippled

The glacier lagoon in February can be loaded with ice and because each piece stays there for several weeks, the surface of the ice becomes rippled from the wind. We are looking a a wind sculpture. Magic cloth technique. Internet use: Yes. Open Edition. 60cm x 40cm Signed open edition $120...
