This was the closest I got to the eruption at Eyjafjallajökull in the May of 2010. The ash was coming out at a tremendous rate and blowing towards Europe. This was a relatively small eruption, but the impact was huge. Here we were in a safe position as long as the wind didn’t change direction. Although the bridge would ave taken me closer, I found it more useful as a leading line.
